Our name is "the Closeout Exchange".
We specialize in Buying and Selling Diamonds, Jewelry, Precious
Metals and Watches. We have been a fixture on Jewelers
Row in Philadelphia since 1989.
There are two main services we
provide. Number one is Buying from the
General Public. Our
goal is to make people feel comfortable selling their merchandise.
We know this is something you were not planning on and we try
to make it as smooth as possible. |
We take the time to evaluate
your merchandise and give you the highest possible price we
can. Number two is Buying and Selling to people engaged in
the jewelry trade. Our goal is to give the professionals another
venue to do business. We have worked very hard at this and
have been successful for almost twenty years.
My name is Allan
Rosen. In 1989, along with my father Bernie Frey the Closeout
Exchange was started. We have both worked in many different
areas of the jewelry trade and through trial and error felt
our expertise was in Buying and Selling. Our combined experience
is well over sixty years. |

Bernie opened his own variety store in 1953
when he was just seventeen years old. This was his college
education in business. Three years later he closed his store
and became a salesman for Barr's Jewelers in Philadelphia.
Barr's Jewelers had thirteen stores and about fifty salesman.
He was always the leader in sales but after five years felt
there was no more room for advancement.
Still only twenty five
years old he found an opportunity to be a manufacturers representative.
For forty five years he sold fine jewelry and watchbands to
retail jewelers across the east coast. As the years progressed
he started buying merchandise from jewelers, wholesalers
and manufacturers. He built a strong following and great reputation. His philosophy
was simple, work hard and treat people right. He recently retired but keeps a
very active personal life. |
I grew up around the business. From the time
I was a teenager I accompanied my father on his travels. Even
though I was young I learned an awful lot and took all his
teachings and applied them when I got older. In the mid 80's
after I graduated from college I opened a retail jewelry store
and also was a manufacturers representative. Both of these
experiences validated my interest in the industry but were
proof my talents and interests lay elsewhere. I began to go
to trade shows, auctions and estate sales and knew this is
the area of the business I wanted to be in. At this point I
needed a location and the only logical choice was Jewelers
Row in Philadelphia. Almost twenty years later and many satisfied
customers the rest is history. |
